Honeymoon memories for vacation Friday!

Talking about where B and I got married in my last post made all the wonderful memories from our honeymoon come back to me! We went to the coast of Greece and it was an incredible trip. We flew into Athens, stayed for a couple days, then flew to Mykonos and enjoyed a variety of beaches. There were at least seven different beaches in Mykonos...sandy beaches, black sand beaches, red sand beaches....etc...

These beautiful windmills are everywhere in Mykonos
From Mykonos, we took a fast ferryboat into Santorini. Santorini was my favorite town...it was breathtakingly beautiful! The city is truly on a cliff. When you step off the ferry and look straight ahead, you see rock, but when you look up, you see a gorgeous mountainside and incredible white buildings with touches of blue everywhere.
There are tiny paths that intertwine between all the buildings, where you can find amazing art, a plethora of vendors and people from all over the world.

Our hotel was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. It was an old wine cellar that was converted into a hotel and the view literally took my breath away. We stayed at Remezzo Villas. If you go to Santorini, I highly recommend Remezzo. It is family owned and felt like a home away from home. It is in Imerovigli, which is the town between Fira and Oia. Here is B enjoying the view from our patio.
When we were planning this trip, we were told Oia was the place to see the sunset. I really don't think there is a bad sunset anywhere in Santorini, but people were right...Oia is at the end of the island and B and I had dinner in Oia one night and were able to experience the most beautiful sunset we had ever seen. Words cannot even begin to describe it's beauty, so here are a few pictures.
Honestly, these pictures don't do it justice. I really need to invest in a nice camera! We planned a sail trip our last night in Santorini and it was an experience I will never forget! We sailed with Captain Ted's Santorini Sailing. The reviews are all 5 star on trip advisor and believe me...they are all right! We sailed with 3 other couples, we ate amazing food that they cooked on the boat, we drank wine, snorkeled, saw parts of the island you can only see by water and watched, yet another, AMAZING sunset! The people were very laid back and so kind. It was incredibly relaxing and romantic. So romantic that there was a proposal on our trip among a couple from England. I cannot say enough about how incredible this sailing trip was and I will be talking about it for the rest of my life:).

I'm not even sure I realized what a wonderful COASTAL trip this would be until we got to Mykonos and Santorini. I will definitely go back to other coastal towns in Greece....there are so many beautiful places!

Hope you enjoyed VACATION FRIDAY and have a great weekend!
